Has anyone else ever heard of the Attica Hotel being haunted? It was/is a restaurant now and I don't know if they still rent rooms or not. It is in Attica, IN.

Hi Duane!
I've not been there myself, but our chapter has been. It's been a couple years ago and I'm not sure who in our chapter went. Maybe ask Audra.

My parents were part of a big renovation project in that hotel about 7 or 8 years ago. They spent alot of time there. From their stories and what little time I spent there, one word can explain it...... ACTIVE It's a really cool place.

If anyone can get something set up, I'd love to be a part of it.

What is the name of this hotel? I have passed through Attica hundreds of times, and would like to stop in and check it out.

I was working a scene down there the other day and saw a small sign along the road advertising lunch special at the Attica Hotel. I wonder if they would notice all the microphones on me at lunch?

You're too funny CSI guy!! They know their place is haunted and I'm sure they wouldn't look at you like you were loony. I think they'd probably ask you to report back!!

The Attica is not only a very cool haunted spot, it is a very nice place to stay. I haven't been there in a couple of years, but had a wonderful time the last time I was there. The owner is very nice, and seemed pretty cool with the idea of having some sort of IGT gathering there. Not a lot of traffic through the area (except during Dan Patch Days and the Potowatami Festival). It might be nice to book something during the winter months. Great indoor hunt, and the rooms are not terribly expensive (and very, very nice).
When I was there last, they were renovating the most haunted area of the hotel to get the rooms ready for booking. There are some great stories about that area. They were also getting the lounge area prepared to become more of a restaurant.
Dean had spent most of that day touring the place with the owner and collecting stories and photos. I got there later. We spent a lot of time in the lounge and around the staircases. Lots of good equipment readings, sightings, and audible stuff by both of us.
My "Mary" EVP came from the Attica Hotel. I picked it up in the lounge area around 1:00 a.m., along with some high EMF readings at the same time.
Lafayette had a great hunt there the year before. This would be a fabulous place to go.

I've never been to the Attica Hotel before, so I'm wondering what is the most haunted section(s) of the hotel?

On December 11th, I went to the Attica Hotel, to inquire about doing a hunt or investigation there. And I hate to tell you this, but they said no, no, no. They said that the place is NOT haunted and that nothing questionable has ever happened there. Since they have only owned the hotel for a few years, I asked if they knew the history of the place. They said " yes, but it was just a spoof". Having grown up in Attica, my hopes were high of getting this place. I'm deeply disappointed. I tried.

Eric,
I talked to the manager, but the owner was sitting in a room just a few feet from us and could hear everything. I asked for the owner when I walked in. The manager was running interference and she shot down everything I asked her. She just kept saying no, over and over. I wasn't going to get into an arguement with her. The owner apparently wasn't interested in talking to me, he didn't step up.

I was dissapointed to read about the recent experience with the owner (I think her name is Betty). I do know she was upset about the inclusion in the "Haunted Indiana" books, where they got parts of the stories wrong. However, when I spoke with her, she seemed receptive to the idea of us booking some rooms and coming there, even possibly holding a Christmas party or the banquet there. She had no problem discussing the hotel's past and some of the stories with Dean and I. I'm puzzled now.
Perhaps some other group has been there and gave her a bad experience? Perhaps she's gotten some bad PR from the books?
Perhaps if our PR guy went and spoke with her or called her, and appealed to her business sense, she'd be more receptive. I'm not sure what else to do. It would be very sad to lose this spot as a place to check out.

I called the hotel and got prices for rooms and suggested doing a "quiet" hunt. They have 25 rooms, some with 2 beds and some with 1 that have to use a restroom down the hall. Rooms run from $50 to $58 bucks. I really want to get in there.

I think it was last year, our chapter did a overnight at a haunted hotel in indiana. Some people from other chapters came too. It was an off season and I think the owner was happy to get our business. We had the whole place to ourself. It was fun. I would love to do an overnight again. As an owner of a haunted place, I understand how they may have shot the idea down at first but its revenue in a slow season.

A few months back, I approached the owner, again, about having a hunt there. I had lunch there and I had a meeting with the owner. Since I had been turned down before, I offered for us to rent all of the rooms, if he would let us hunt there. He happily agreed to that, and gave me a tour of the hotel. However, he called me a couple of days later and canceled. He said that he had told the surviving members of the family of the maid that was murdered there, about having us do a hunt there, and they got very upset. Then he was upset, that he had upset them, so he canceled our agreement. He also said that having IGT there would hurt the hotel's reputation and he didn't want anything to do with IGT.
