Anyone been to McPike Mansion in Alton, IL?

(1/1)

J-Man-73:
I'm new (or, newer I should say, since I joined the forum in early November) and can honestly say that, other than experiences while growing up, I've never really done any hunts or trackings.  However, during this past summer I was hearing more and more about McPike Mansion in Alton, IL and was intrigued to pay a visit.  I trekked (along with other family members with similar interests in the paranormal) from NW Indiana to Alton in early October for a two-hour tour of McPike Mansion and, admittedly, was very impressed just by it's size alone.  It was built in 1867 and is a 16-room mansion that sits very dominantly on Alby street.  Although we weren't allowed inside the entire mansion, we were guided by the mansion's owner, Sharyn Luedke, along the surrounding grounds of McPike Mansion and then, into the cellar.  I had with me my digital voice recorder, video camera, and single-shot camera (hey, I drove pretty far to get there - I wasn't going to miss a beat on this!).  Although nothing paranormal was caught on either camera, I did catch some pretty impressive EVP's on my digital recorder; nothing threatening, but definitely paranormal: "Our house!" was caught as I was entering the cellar; "I'm here" was an answer given when the question 'are there any children here with us tonight' was asked; and "did you see blake" seemed to come from no where with what seemed to be an eerie "no" following.  I reviewed my video of the tour, and these voices cannot be heard on video at all, nor were they heard during the tour.  Even if I hadn't caught those, I still found McPike Mansion to be very impressive, and would certainly go back for another visit in a heartbeat!  For those who have not been there, I would definitely recommend it for at least a visit.  I would love to do a ghost hunt there and see what else can be found.
