THIS WEEKEND!!

THERE HAS BEEN SOME GOOD BUZZ GOING AROUND ABOUT THIS YEARS PICNIC & CAMPOUT & I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL!!

*PDF FILE OF THE PICNIC FLYER IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS MESSAGE
(click the little green paper clip to open)

IF YOU'RE NOT CAMPING OF COURSE YOU CAN JUST COME FOR THE PICNIC ON SATURDAY OR JUST POP DOWN FOR A VISIT FRIDAY NIGHT.

I RESERVED A BLOCK OF SITES SO THERE IS NO NEED TO MAKE RESERVATIONS!
Just show up with your stuff!!

VISIT THEIR BRAND NEW WEBSITE!*click the link below*
http://www.basslakebeachandcampground.com/

*THE ONLY COST FOR THE PICNIC IS THE PAVILLION RENTAL DONATION AND WE ASK THAT PEOPLE BRING THEIR OWN FOOD TO GRILL ALONG WITH SIDE DISHES, DESSERTS & DRINKS TO SHARE. IF YOU ARE NOT CAMPING THERE IS A $3 PER PERSON ADMISSION FEE INTO THE BEACH WHERE THE PICNIC IS HELD AT THE NORTH PAVILLION.

$27 is per night (per campsite NOT per person!) - but you can have up to 3 tents on each site! -once everybody splits the costs it costs very little to camp! They do have RV hookups & electric. It always works out fine. As people arrive we fill up sites - people are always willing to share if they have space & then split the cost. We do this every year & it all works out-just show up with your stuff - it will not end up costing much unless you want a site all to yourself. They are next to eachother so its just one big IGT campsite with tents & campers all over - it works out- dont sweat it!

This is such a fun event!   :hello2:

Members from all over the state and their families get a chance to kick back and get to know each other.  Camping, cooking out, picnic, games, hanging out around the campfire- good times!!!

For the past several years, Troy has done a wonderful job making this event happen.
This year, it would be so nice if members volunteer to take on a small task, so we can spread the workload that goes into this event.  This way all members can do a small part in helping, so everyone has a chance to enjoy the weekend.

Please vote for the date you want, so planning can begin.
Check back again for updates!  This event is great!

I voted!  I'd really like to make it this year.

Just a note...   the weekend of August 14-16 is GenCon weekend, and several members will be helping out with that.  After that weekend, the kids go back to school, and travelling is a lot harder to arrange.

I can't wait!!  I've already started to inventory the camping gear!  Whoo hoo!!

Wendy, will there be hooligans this year?  Will Pat be in charge of all props again for "Just chuck it in?"

Troy, will there be a committee for the potato salad contest?  What about the thickest gravy event?

The teenagers will be horrified......

Rene - I think you just volunteered to head the Potato Salad Contest!!!!   :)  That would be very apealing to me....

I'm thinking a dessert contest would be good too....????  That would be sweet!

All kidding aside - all ideas & volunteers are appreciated!!

I'm stoked too!! We always have a grand old time....

Hey folks! One schedule conflict to keep in mind is the Porter County fair. The NWI chapter is preparing to commit to doing the fair this year which will be July 23 - August 2nd.

Troy,
I volunteer to

(copied from list)
2)People to set up & clean up the pavillion the day of the picnic
6)Someone willing to run for supplies if needed (ice, charcoal, beer, etc)
7)People to help other people set up & tear down their tents if they need help & work with campground staff & new arrivals to find (and or share) a campsite

We had such a blast last year. First night we set up, get to know everyone, stories by the campfire. Saturday picnic, swiming, games, food, fun. Saturday night Ghost hunting. More campfires. Sunday breakfast, campsite break down. Its a fun, busy weekend.  I highly encourage all to come out. If you can't make it out Friday or Friday night, come out Saturday. Whoopie, I have been looking foward to this all year!

I would like to share a campsite with people to save money. I will be there Friday to sunday.  Anyone interested get a hold of me on here or email me carrie_rose1977@sbcglobal.net

My wife and i will be camping friday and saturday.
We have a pretty big tent not sure the size of campsite or if
we will get three tents on site. Do the reserved sites have electric?

Troy, who and when do we pay for the site and donations?

I had a pretty good size tent last year. I think it was a 9 person tent. We could have fit 2 more tents on the site with maybe a bit of overflow into the next campsite if we had needed. If it works out like last year our campsites will be next to eachother and back to back so overflow should be no problem.
As for electic there is a electric plug with 2 outlets per campsite. I'm bringing an extension chord myself.
Not sure about the other questions but i'm sure Troy can help you with those.
I plan on getting there pretty early Friday to help out and will be there thru the weekend if you or anyone need help setting up or anything. Its going to be fun!

With the hour difference, I should be there before noon. I get off work at 11:30 am South Bend time. I got so much stuff here game wise. I think we got horse shoes and who knows what else.  Who brought the volleyball net last year? We really had a blast playing. This year i'm bringing sun screen though. Jen hopefully you will make it out this year.

carrie if you have room can you put me up again this year if I can't get anyone else to go with me?  I'm not sure if I can get a tent in time, but can share the costs again with you.  If you don't mind or are already sharing with someone.  I may be by myself this year.  I'm not thinking the kids wanna go.  They have friends and a lot going on.

I had such a great time last year I don't think I could miss this one. :icon_thumleft: I was planning on taking my rig this year. Just the tractor part, not the trailer too. Hahahaha  :icon_jokercolor: Treat it like a rv. Hey, it has two bunks.  I will call the camp ground this Monday. See if I can't get a good spot.  I'll see you all there.

I had a great time even though my tent leaked in the rain. It was great meeting all of you and great seeing everyone! There were a few faces it took me a bit to remember. I blame that on the beer! I can now match the forum board names with faces. Our guide from the hunt, Peter wants to start a chapter in Knox!
I do have a set of Tongs that belongs to someone. If that person is coming to the ghost conference, contact me and I will return them or find another way to return them.
I am still keeping my fingers crossed for Troy's missing wallet. I am a optimist and I think it may just show up.

Thank you so much to all who showed up to this years campout & picnic! We had about 25 adults, a few kids and even a dog & a cat!

Dave M from Laporte had the most interesting tent down there! You are too funny!

Carrie - ALL your help was much appreciated!! She took over much of the management of the event once everyone got down there and allowed me to enjoy myself & reax a bit more this year (which was MUCH needed!)

McD held a great meeting at the beach- I think I enjoy outside summer IGT meetings - groups may wanna concider doing more of them!

It was SO AWESOME to see so many of my friends & members I never met show up despite wet & windy (at times) weather. We did have okay weather too!! Those awnings saved the day, er night, on Friday!

Thanks to Dee for the musical adventure on Friday! Yes folks, that really was a Donnie Osmund song.... We had a nice mix of different types of music throughout the weekend-thanks to everyone who brought cds!

Thanks to everyone who: shared grills, food, drinks, firewood & who brought the bag game!

A shoutout to out IGT wall builders who helped block the wind at the pavillion! Brilliant!

The hunt was VERY INTERESTING Saturday night! Please post if you got EVP! It seemed very active!

*A BIG thank you to all who helped search for my Wallet for like 3 hours on Sunday morning. Not how we wanted to end the wekend, but you put me at ease & were very kind! I'm still hoping someone gets honest & turns it in-keep the money- I just need my personal items-there were some things very dear to me in my wallet that cannot be replaced! Please pray that it gets returned to me soon! It is a very messed up situation, you just don't realize that untill it happens to you. I've had to cancel my cards , get a new license & make lots of calls & it's just a huge hassle! So again, thanks to all who helped & those of you who gave me a few bucks for gas money home. It meant the world to me! *UPDATE: MY WALLET WAS RETURNED!!

Next year we may try a new campground, I'm considering DONNA JO CAMPGROUND in Kouts. Look it up online - it's VERY nice! Woodsy, trails, a small lake, waterslides & pools, gameroom & its about the same price! Well see... I love Bass Lake but there have been a few snags the last two years that makes me thing we should try somewhere new.

Just wanna say that this event is always a great way to end the summer & this year was no exception! We didn't swim (except for Susan & I cuz were nuts like that!) but we had LOTS of laughs, a great hunt & some great eats! (boy were those crabby patty cookies good!!)

*Another apology to Chris White for the BD, sorry bro.....   (TOO FUNNY!!!)  LOL!!!!!

Seeya next year IGT Happy Campers!!

*don't forget to post your pics on FACEBOOK & tag me in your photos! I'll do the same! * Thanks to those who posted pinic pics on Facebook - They are great!!!
